So here's the deal ... my old remote finally bit the dust and died. Now it had died once before and I replaced the battery and it was as good as new. This time it wasn't the case. Also note that when it died the first time the memory of my car was lost and I had to reprogram the remote.

So I look around and find a remote to our 2002 Ford Escape. I take out the battery for a good period of time and then program it for my car. Im sure you can see where this is going. I go to lock my doors and I lock it twice to hear the horn and well guess what I hear two different car's horns honk. I hit the panic button after that for fun, although it was quite humurous it does present quite a problem. How on earth do you deprogram these little things? Taking the battery out worked for my original remote but it doesnt seem to work for this newer one.

Thanks

The book says there are two ways to program the remote. Turn the key and 5 time to add a new remote (old one's still work and a new one is added) and 7 times to reprogram all controls for the truck. However I had to turn the key on and off like 9 times to reprogram all controls for my 98. Hopefully if you do a reprogrwm it will solve the probelm.

I already reprogrammed  it just controls two cars now... so it says if I turn the key 7 times within like 20 seconds or whatever it reprograms the remote completely? I am kind of confused about what the difference is between 5 and 7 times...

I tried turning the key 7 times or whatever but there is only "setting" that I can add a remote and thats after 8 times. I just posted on Escape-Central to see if I can get help there but its a pretty slow site unlike our awesome one over here. ;)

Anyways still looking for help, I am appreciative of ANYTHING that would help me find out what the problem is.
