I wanted to lower my 03 Sport a little just to make it look good. I did it just like Black Magic's write up on his ite. I too only went with one inch blocks in the back, which ended up giving me just a little over an inch drop in the rear. The front however is where I get confused. Some have stated that after around 4-6 turns on the torsion bolts that they got a 2-3" drop. I started with that and ended up going lmost all the way until they came out. I was not able to get any more than a 1.5" drop in the front. I'd like to get another 1-1.5" drop in the front to get it nice and level. Yes, I drove it and all, and even got in aligned as is, but it is not where I want it to set. Any ideas on why mine didn't settle on down?

Every Explorer is different but here's a thought- maybe yours was a little lower before you even started. How much gap do you have from the fender lip to the top of the tire? Better yet, do you have a link of a picture of your Sport?

I'm no torsion bar expert but, aren't some of the t-bars different, like different ratings, A,B,C,D etc? Maybe thats why you can't get down any further if thats the case.

i took them out on my sport. mine was like yours, it really didnt seem to be dropping that much. and before i knew it they were out. they match the back with 1 inch blocks.

You need to bounce the front end up and down repeatedly and allow the suspension to settle for a few days.

Thanks, but I've done that. I actually have over two thousand miles on it since the drop.

X~FACTOR- I'll go snap a couple of pics when it stops raining and see what you guys think.

Thanks for the replies.

Driving over rough roads will do the trick also.

Good luck......

Some pics

Just as I bought it used with 11,000 miles on it. Someone had already swapped the stock 16's for some aftermarket wheels.

Here it is after a set of 20's

and finally lowered 1" in the rear and ~1.5" in the front

I think I can get another 1/2" maybe if I take the torsion bolts all the way out. Any problem with doing this??

Mine are all the way out and havent had any probs (i'm 4wd too)

off topic - nice wheels....may I ask where you got them and how much/size?

where I got the wheels

Sounds like I'll go ahead and take the bolts all the way out and see how much more I can set it down. If it's only gonna set me down another 1/2", do I need to go ahead and get another alignment? Thanks to all for the replies!

ton_e_montana, I got them from here

They don't show the 20's on the website, but they got them. Only prob I have is I need about a 1/2" spacer on the front. I can't get the center caps on yet. I think they were around $1500-$1600 for the chrome.
