just concluded the nightmare of a heater core replacement - good news I now have heat which a good thing this time of year in Wyoming - bad news is it works at no matter what setting the temp blend control is whether hot or cold on the knob - before conclude it's a blend door issue can anyone think of something I might have plugged back up backwards? - Sorry for the punctuation my shop keyboards got dead keys - I bought it knowing the heater core was bad and didn't know any other issues as far as the temp was concerned because the AC worked great in the cold position - which I evac'd and depressurized before the replacement - hoping I did not hurt the blend door is what I'm shooting for I guess - I was very careful with everything but the center console during the change - heck with that thing - I might still rip it back out and put a bullet in it lol

Start out by checking to see if the actuator motor is plugged in and working correctly. The actuator can be carefully pryed off the plactic corner pegs without unbolting the base unit. If it works correctly and the shaft is intact, then check the blend door itself. A small dental mirror and flashlight will let you see down into the top. Should see a round cylinder with square hole for the peg. Pretty common for the corners to break off, leaving the door useless.

If it's broken there are two options: 25 minutes vs 6 hours, your choice. You've already experienced the fun of pulling the dash to access the heater core. To do it right you would disassemble everything again to remove that top access panel and put in a new $10 blend door. Personally I've pulled a couple dashes to replace heater cores and blend doors, but at this point I would not do that again for a blend door. The bottom cut method is much easier with the same end result of a replaced door that works.

guess I'll have to buy a book on it because I'm not familiar with those on this vehicle at all - also like I said I had heat no matter what position the hot/cold knob was in and now I have nothing but cool air in all positions lol
