My daughter's "93 Explorer did a 360 on an icy bridge and hit the curb and rolled onto it's driver's side, Had it towed to my house and shift lever is not working. I have to crawl under the car and move transmission lever by hand to P. Once in park I can start car and shift into drive but cannot shift back to park, the lever moves freely back and fourth but the tranny does not move out of drive and into Park or N. Also while being on it's side for about an hour oil got onto the pistons a creates a lot of smoke, how long will this last or is there something I have to do to engine.

You should pull all the spark plugs and turn the engine over, change all the fluids.
Sounds like the steering column shift lever got messed up? it uses a cable to shift the trans, as you know, it is adjustable

Looking closer at the cable and found it to be busted at the steering colume, got it removed from there but cannot figure out how to remove from behind the tranny.

it is a press fit on the linkage at the transmission, should just pry it off the ball....

roll overs are big headaches.
A lot ( as you are experiancing ) can go wrong.
Motor mounts don't like to hold engines in any other position other than right side up.
Fluids go where they are not soupose to go.
It all gets real messy.
It is gonna take some TLC to get it back to snuff.

I have an Aunt & Uncle that live on Lake Minitonka.
It is beaurtyful.

I changed your title to more reflect your problem. Please try to be more disciptive on your titles so everyone will know the kind of help you need.
As far as the oil in the engine goes, just run it for awhile and it will burn out.
I do agree with NONMIX that you should check out the motor mounts, just to make sure that they are alright, and you are probably going to also need a alignment too. Sometimes hitting a curb will bend the tierods. Can't help you on the tranny cable.
