With gas prices up to US$5.79 per gallon in my country, thinking about changing over to propane which is about US$2.70 per gallon. Anyone on the board has any experience with this?

Wow that's pretty amazing stuff! Actually I'm working on a deal to do a barter with the company that will install the propane system but wanted to hear some feedback if anyone had done such a conversion.

Back in the gas crisis of the early '70's my employer (local government) installed a propane system on a C10 Chevy 350 v8 pickup that I drove daily. Worked well, good power, slightly less MPG. Surely propane systems have improved in the last 40 years!!! Let us know what you decide. It's interesting to see what's there now.

propane is interesting, as is natural gas options

Should have the propane installed by the end of the month. Natural gas still not an option down here since there are only 4 stations for 10 million people on the island and the closest station for me would be about 80 miles. Still the price per gallon of natural gas is about 50 cents vs US$2.70 for the propane!
In the meantime I will have to endure gas at the equivalent of US$5.41 a gallon until then! Thinking about removing the catalytic converter to get better mileage but now sure how to shut off the warning light that will probably come on.

but if you have a natural gas line at your house you can get in home filling kits for your NG vehicle

No natural gas home lines (or propane) in the Dominican Republic. Well, since my last post just got the system installed. I noticed on the highway that I was getting about 16% less mpg than with gasoline but since propane down here is half the price of gasoline still way ahead of the curve. Have a friend that installed a hydrogen system in this truck. The installer claimes 50% mileage increase! Too good to be true but will wait for my friend and his results.
