So, I've had my Kenwood stereo installed for over 5 months, and for some odd reason, once I hooked up my amp and sub, it went into protect mode for the first time. Then it stopped for a good 3 months, now all of a sudden, it's constantly going into protect mode. Sometimes it'll stop doing it for 3 days, sometimes 2 seconds. It's really irritating when I'm driving and it goes into protect mode, reset it, 10 minutes later, protect mode again. Please help. All speakers are stock. Just have a Dual 4 channel amp and Rockford Subs installed. Thanks.

I also might add when it went into protect mode, I had the same amp installed but different subs, then my truck got broken into, so I bought the same amp again but different subs.

So I just finished screwing around with it and unhooked the amp, no luck, subs, no luck, screw with the settings, not really any luck. It just seems like every time a really bassy song comes on, once it gets back a certain point, it goes into protect mode no matter if the subs are on or aren't. Time for new speakers maybe?

Your probably listening to crappy music...lol... jk...

I would think you have a bad connection somewhere...???
Good luck...

Check and make sure the ohm's on the subs are the same as the amp. A 2ohm sub and 4 ohm amp wont play nice together.

I unplugged my amp and sub and it's still doing it, so that's not the issue.

Still have the stock door speakers amp hooked up or did you rewire the speakers directly to the deck? (Which you should've done)

Now it's doing it when I go past 13 on the volume knob, and the head unit gets really hot when it's at 13+ as well.

Having your head unit run full wattage to a stock amp for the speakers is probably burning you head unit up..im pretty sure yours comes with a stock amp mounted in the truck somewhere. ...to properly replace a stock deck you need to run new wires to the door speakers..doesn't matter with cheap decks but some are sensitive. .least thats my theory and how you should properly replace a deck..

Yeah, my girlfriends brother and I installed this cheap Kenwood head unit a while ago and had no problems with it before, now all of a sudden it decides it wants to start screwing up. Had it working fine with the sub and amp hooked up.

Check your grounds

I checked the amp ground for the sub, but I can't seem to recall where the head unit ground is located at.

The fuse is fine too. Just checked. Rewiring the ground tonight, will let you know if the problems solved.
