- 2003 Limited 4x4 V8
Yup, i started on this site back in '01 with a '93 xlt. A couple of years later i got a '96 limited. And as of yesterday i now own a 2002 xlt. So i venture to say that i am an explorer enthusiast.
It's really wierd cuz i never thought that i would have owned three explorers before i was 22. I have been very fortunate, i know. The '02 was my grandfathers that just passed away. And my grandma wanted me to have it. I think it will be a great way to remember him every day that i get into it and drive it.
Some of the "extra" features from a "base" xlt include: leather, power "seat", third row, running boards, in dash six disc, auto lights, side view mirrow lights, tow package, bucket middle seats, and that's about it.
So far i love the thing as i'm going from a 5.0 to the sohc. Not as much torque obviously, but i have to say that i think it has more get up at highway (high rpm) speeds than the v8 did. She's oxford white with the grey plastic "cladding" or whatever running all the way around on the bottom. Great lookin, smooth/ very quiet riding, as well as more roomy. A great upgrade none the less.
I will be installing from the limited: roady 2 (xm radio), kenwood (######, blah bluh blah) head unit, passport 8500, rockford xe2/ rockford amp, and possibly tinting the windows on this one as well. Not to mention the occasional MPU (mobile party unit/ cooler) stocked.
I also think that i will be taking out the middle row center seat out for easier access to the third row, as well as more leg room for the saps that sit back there. Let me know what you think on this idea as once again, i'm new to this generation.
Thanks for reading my rant...
