depends on the offroad terrain situation you are in...

basically for street ideal pressure for an explorer is between 30-35 .... ther is no correct answer on this, as climate, type of tire, usage, and many other variables play a part in ideal pressure... do search for the chalk test

When I had my 31" BFGs I ran them about 33-34 on the street and anywhere from 13-street on the trails.

yea the terrain wuld just be trails, like easy trails. so just keep the street pressure in them ya think ?

If you lower the tire presure the tire contact patch becomes larger. That will create greater traction as well as reduce the pressure the tire creates on the ground. When the pressure or force the tire exerts on the ground is smaller the tire will have a a shallower penetration into a soft soil (mud or sand). Reducing the tire pressure will resude the spring rate of the suspension system and generally create a softer ride.
