What do I need to remove, to pull the motor, transmission, and TC as 1 unit?

I know I need to pull:

Radiator
Drive shafts
Trans & engine mounts
various Electrical lines
Fuel lines
Exhaust

Are there any special tricks I need to know?

This is the first time I would be messing with a 4WD....although I am VERY well versed in the 2WD set-ups....I even rebuilt my own M5OD, so this is obviously a simple feat by comparison.

just make sure you have the leveling device for your crane. you'll get everything loose, and it will not rise straight up.....

I remember reading that someone tried to do this before. The problem is that unless you cut the upper radiator support out you have to really tilt the motor up. To get it to tilt that far up you have to have the truck very high off the ground (higher than most shop cranes will go) since the as you tip the trans/xfer case will drop.. and they ain't short.

You will not be able to pull the engine and trans together in a Gen I truck
There is absolutely no way you can pull the t case through there either.

Seperate the engine from the trans, it will actually save you time.

In order to pull the engine and trans together you would have to remove the radiator support or modify it, and get th etruck about 3' in the air and more.....

Also, it may be easer to remove the intake plenum prior to removing the engine. I agree with the above statement by 410.

Ditto, the engine bays are really too short to pull it all together.
