Well I had a crappy day yesterday for a fishing trip but here's what happened...

on my way down the canyon the X started smoking like crazy....I pulled off the highway and into a pepboys parking lot....

turns out the little hose that goes from the water pump to the T-stat housing had a needle hole in it shooting coolant ALL over the fan and the engine...

I replaced the hose and took it to the car wash to get all the crap off the engine...

well when the leak happened stuff was squealing in the front and i figured it was just all wet.....

well this morning I go to fire her up all nice and dry and it screams pretty good...its either my powersteering pump or that little tensioner pulley dirrectly to the left....

anything I can do to try and stop the squealing?

Also how the hell do I get the belt off this....its way dif than my stang is set up...

If I remember there is a 3/8" square socket in the tensioner that you can fit a socket wrench in. If you are cheap and bored, the pulleys can be removed. The dust covers on the bearings can be gently pried up and the bearings greased. They were probably on the way out and the coolant and cleaning got some liquid in them. New pulleys are only about $15 each. Depending on your miles, this is about the time when the tensioner flys apart when you put a wrench on it. Look at the white bushing on the engine and see if more is showing on one side or the other. Some stores don't stock the tensioner. Check or you might be without a vehicle for a couple of days.

ok i'll take the belt off and remove that little idler pully at the top and try to re-lube it....I hope that works!

Hey Matt.. while you have it off I would suggest that you change the tensioner.. mine was squeeking for like a week then the tensioner siezed and I lost my belt. Good thing I was only a couple of blocks away from a Pep Boys when it happened. Tensioner isn't that much and worth the replacement.

Hey? what happened with doing the BL? didn't hear from you?

I've had some things come up that I've had to spend the tire and BL funds on......getting under the X to fix that coolant problem I found that one of my tie rods is FUBAR'd and i need to get that replaced ASAP...and I need to get the deck and 6 disc fixed

how much is that tensioner?

I'm just glad it isn't my powersteering pump....

umm.... i think i got it for like $15-18 through Ford... but I get all my parts for wholesale. but then again that was on my 4.0.

Hey be sure to let me know when you want to do the BL... hell, let me know next time you hit the mountains too, we gotta go together some time. ;)
