pulling tranny?

Im pulling the trans on my 95 auto explorer and was wondering if you had to pull y pipe like with manual trans?

Come on, I find it hard to believe nobody knows if i have to pull the y pipe to get the transmission out. Just wanted to know before i was holding a trasmission above my face and it wont come out!

I would say you don't absolutely have to, at least in the 94 with auto. However it is so much easier when you do remove the Y-pipe.

Managed to force it around the y-pipe every other time i replaced mine, but the last time I was using the new y-pipe that came with the headers and would not squeeze by.
