for those of you that remember, back in january-february i got a new (reman) 4.0 SOHC put in my '97 X by the dealership for a grand total of $300 (oil, plugs, wires, etc.). ford bit the bullet on the rest due to the outstanding recalls on the SOHC. so now a few months down the road, we were coming back up from myrtle beach when i heard a pop. thought i blew a tire at first by the way it started driving. pulled over and looked only to find oil pouring out of the pan. the dealership looked at it this morning and said that it shot a rod through the oil pan. and to top things off, i leave Ft. Bragg wednesday (Apr. 20) to go back home to missouri. now i have to ride with someone else and then fly back out to get my truck. so frigging pissed :fire:

it had bout 64,000 and now with this mishap it's at about 68,000. it's low mileage for a '97

That sucks man. Yours is not the first SOHC in an Explorer that this has happened too from what I've heard. The SOHC uses torque to yield bolt/nuts throughout, and if you don't adjust them right, the engine could blow.
