Hello to all..........my question is: I'm looking for a set of air shocks for the rear of my '96 XLT but I come across listings for '91-'94. Aren't the shocks for these the same as my '96? Did the mounting change? I want to get a set of Gabriel HiJackers but can only find it for '91-'94. Any help would be appreciated. I like the HiJackers because the rubber bladder is fully enclosed by the upper shock cover whereas Monroe MaxAir is exposed. Anybody have air shocks installed? How are they?

oh, I just realized that those are for the rear only.

Thanks "rino351".....the AirLift RideControl air bladders were my other option but they're a little pricey. After you add on the compressor kit it's well over $300. Besides, if I order it online the shipping cost will kill me!!!!

Just installed Airlift Ride Controls for my '97..Yes, they are a little pricy ($220 from 4 wheel parts) but they installed pretty easy (under 2 hrs.). As a side note, with even 30 lbs. of air my X handles much better with much less body lean. I don't know if the air compressor is absolutely neccessary. I carry a compressor w/ me all the time already. I bought them because I tow a pop-up trailer and the suspension was hitting the bump stops with any good bump. My only concern is to do when I add a leaf and install longer shackles.

Now that's a good idea.....just install the AirControl bladders and buy a seperate portable air pump/battery pack. I've seen these in JC Whitney for emergency starting and tire inflation and seem to be reasonably priced. But still can't find listings for air shocks for a '96 XLT (HiJackers prefered)..
