question about electric fan

i have read about people putting an electric fan on the x's to free up some stress on the motors. great idea, my question is what all is involved with the instal can i go to a junk yard and get a fan out of a taurus of something similar and run the wires and be good to go or will it take more than that to make it work and not have to worry about over heating?

pull old fan out, install thermostatic switch, install fan, enjoy.

You will want a dual stage switch, or a variable speed switch, but you can get by just fine with a single stage switch...
