I'm thinking about getting this:

http://annapolis.craigslist.org/cto/1630114689.html

And I'm wondering if the fuel pump can be replaced with just any of these:

http://www.andysautosport.com/ford/1995_2000_explorer/performance/fuel_system/fuel_pumps/

or if there's somehow more to it than that, like other parts needed. I kind if want this one:

http://www.andysautosport.com/ford/1995_2000_explorer/performance/fuel_system/fuel_pumps/venom/

But it says it's only for the 91-95 V6. Is this a misprint or something? The others say they're universal

For the price they are asking, why not go to your local NAPA and buy a replacement pump?

Figured they'd be about the same price, not knowing anything about their typical price.

The aftermarket ones aren't in any way better?

Why do you want a $200 performance fuel pump when you can get a 255lph Walbro for under $100? You'd have to have a TON of performance mods to even come close to needing more than that.

You might just want to go down to the parts store and get a whole new fuel pump assembly. They're usually $100, and come with the whole drop-in deal to replace the factory assembly, which is usually rusty and nasty unless you come from a very dry climate. I got one from Napa, which was stainless steel, and had a nice new high flow aftermarket pump already attached to it. Nice warranty, too. Much better deal than $200 just for a pump.

So the cheap replacement ones are still better than stock? I figure if it's gonna be replaced, why not upgrade as well.

Are they easy to install by yourself?

And since the new ones are made out of stainless steel, what are the old ones made out of?
