Ok I have noticed something weird about my gas mileage. I have a 98 sport. I live in NJ but go to school in MA. When I go home and fill up in jersey I average between 15 – 16 mpg. When I fill up in mass I average between 12 – 13 mpg. Also when I buy my gas in jersey the explorer is lot more smother and accelerates faster. Is there some sort of additive in the gas? Is there any other reason for this? thanks

That might be the Oxygen percentage? just guessing.... or.... the way you drive in Mass...

I dont drive any different in mass than i do in jersey. if anything i probably drive harder in jersey

I know that if I use any of the ethanol blended gasolines, my vehicles ran like sh**. I do not know about the Explorer, I haven't used them in a long time. I only fill up at the major, good name gas stations.

I had the same thing happenning with my vehicle about 5 years ago...whenever I went to my parents, it ran great, when I went home, like crap. Because I had a Mohawk(ethanol blend) gas station near my house and filled up there. Ran better as soon as I switched to a better name gas. Also up here in Canada, the bigger companies add antifreeze to their gas in the winter, a nice bonus.
