I recently went wheeling and decided to cross a section of water that proved to be a little too deep. I made it through the water and when I reached the other side the engine was still running but eventually died I am assuming because of wet electrical equipment (check engine light came on). The engine restarted fine so I pulled off the trail and disassembled my intake and found water in the air filter, MAF, intake tube, and a little in the throttle body itself. After I dried everything as best I could, and removing mud from the air filter, I put everything back together and it started right up (without the check engine light on), ran fine and got me home. When I got home I changed the oil and cleaned and reoiled my K&N. It didn't really look like there was any water in my oil. So, my question is that I am wondering if there could be any possibility of engine damage from the slight amount of water my engine may have ingested. Fortunately it wasn't completely hydrolocked and everything seems to be ok now (I have been driving it for the past 4 days). Thanks for any help!

Probably not. I have done that before too, and did just what you said. Haven't had any problems. There is this one "small" water crossing back where I live. Every time I go passed it now, there is someone with his hood open. Just let the water evaporate.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. Any small amount of water that made its way in would just be vaporized. But, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the reply though.

I drove through 3' of water and my truck seems to be running A+ afterwards. Of course I got some interior flooding, check the whoops forum. these 4.0s can handle it all. just check your fluids

the first time i went offroading i let my friend drive and he drove through a small pond. the truck made it almost all the way out but it was still up to the top of the back bumper. i imagine it was pretty deep. the engine seized up and i had to take the spark plugs out, crank it over, put them back in and jump the car and it started fine. has been running good ever since
