Question about interior carpet.

Hi everybody, I've been lurking here for a few days. I recently bought a 99 explorer sport. The previous owner spilled some deck stain on the floor, and I am looking for replacement carpet and mats. I found a guy that is parting out a 4 door explorer. Does anybody know if the carpet is molded differently between the two models? Im fairly certain that the floor mats would be the same. If any of you happen to have some carpet sitting around, I'm looking for gray or charcoal carpet. I have gray leather interior, so any carpet that would look decet with that will work. Thanks!

You can very likely use the 4 door caept in your sport, just cut it off where the back seat is.
They are the same interior wise until you get behind the front doors, the Sport doors are longer.
There might be some SLIGHT differences, not sure if anyone has done this before.

You can also order quality new molded carpet kits online for $200-350.
This is the route I will be taking with nmy BII after searching for a used kit in the yards for years and coming up short. I found 1 in the right color in prestine condition but the jackass at the yard wanted $200 for it, I am like yeah right...for $50 more I get new.

If I can find one in a Junkyard for cheap, Ill pick it up and try it. If it needs modified, Ill do a DIY. Theres a guy parting out a 4 door, and hes kinda in the area. Ill have to Find out what he wants for the carpet. Keep the comments coming. Ill post anything that I find out as well.


What do you guys think about the carpet from a 91-94 sport working in a 95-01 sport? are they the same?

well I am worried about the area around your door pillars (between the front and rear doors on a 4 door) since the 4 door front doors are not as long as the sports you will probably have a area of metal floor peeking through because your pillar is further back.
