I recieved two kepy when i purchased my Ex last wek, one works everythgin and one just opens the doors. They are both "chipped keys"
Ford want £18 for a new blank, £15 to get it cut and an hours labour at £75 plus vat to program the new key!!

if you have two ignition keys you can pogram the new one yourself but i only have one.

Question is, is the chipped key similar or the same as like an induction lock on some cars ? As in if i purchase 2 blanks ($20 for two on ebay) get them cut, if i then place my existing ignition key near the steering column when i start the Ex with an unprogramed key will it start ? Ive done this before on another car and just cut the actual metal key off and and cable tied the chipped fob inside the steering wheel shroud, just wondered it this is the same ?

Appreciate any help

cheers
Si

Hi fcat,

You can programme a third or fourth key if you have two working keys. As you seem to only have one I think you will have to see the dealer and get them to programme all the others. Do a search on how to do it.
