whats up folks. I had my X for a little over a year now and I am a newbie when it comes to making any mods on it, but I figure this place was a good place to start.

Don't worry, I plan on using the search button..lol

anyway...I was in an accident with mine and smashed up the front end, basically on the passenger side, bumper etc...its all below the hood.

anyway...I'm wondering what a good repair book would be. Ideally it would have the obvious mechanical repairs, but also body repair such as changing fendors or bumpers...etc.

I was going to buy the Haynes manual.

any suggestions?

thanks.

Kris

Get Ford factory service.

The Haynes is good for some stuff, but it leaves a lot of holes because they're covering all model years for x span of time...

I have worked in coillison repair for over 10 years.
If you can't find a book or have further questions do not hessitate to ask me here. That is what this place is all about.

what book would you reccomend? 94 XLT is my model. Thanks.

Well, the Ford factory one is big $$$$$, so just stick with the Haynes one, or a CD one...

The one on CD is the Ford Factory manual. Check eBay for them. Try "1994 Ford Truck CD"

bid on one, 8 bucks...sounds good..if not, its only 8 beans

Sorry, I am not aware of any books. It has always been
ojt for me. I am sure they exist, but I can't tell you beans about them

so you want to fix my front end? How hard is it to replace a bumper etc.?

picture the front corner on the passenger side being smacked up. No damage to the hood though.

seems simple in my mind..what do you think?

thanks

The bumper would be very simple to replace. I believe it's just a few bolts, maybe 4-6 at most. Should be bolted to your frame underneath/behind your bumper in the middle. I believe there are some brackets on both sides. As far as the fender goes I'm not sure, I've never replaced one but I wouldn't imagine it would be that difficult.

any way to tell if the frame is bent without taking it somewhere to get checked?.

I doubt it is, since i drove it after the accident....but just wondering..

The bumper is cake 4 19mm bolts that are thghter than a ducks butt in winter.
The fender is a bunch of 8mm bolts, one 10mm bolt and some phillips screws.
It is not hateful at all.
As far as the frame is concerned, the odds are a bit slim on the full frame, and since according to you it is a low hit, and your Ex is not a sub frame, you probabally have no worry.
Just look at the frame ends with the bumper off there are three or four crumple zones on the end of the frame rail ( ridges, ripples what have you ) look at the two rails they should appear the same and no major distortions to the crumple zones. Look for broken paint too. I have a hunch you are fine.
If you can post a picture any way.
