Question on Flowmaster Install

When i am ready to install my flowmaster should i weld my exhaust brackets? it doesnt say to in the directions but everyone ive talked to says weld it...

I did not weld mine and it is fine after 18+ months, either way I think is fine.

hey jrgaylor how does your exhaust sound on ur truck? have u noticed any better performance like gas mileage or power?

I would say that with the exhaust and KKM that I have more power and it sounds cool under a load, I get like 13-15 MPG but I have 31's and a lift so it is to be expected, I bought myself a daily driver so the X is a offical playtoy.

Just the other day I was under my truck, and I looked at the resonator and the pipe was brocken off right before it, so I cut out the resonator and put in a piece of straight pipe, and cut off the exhaust right were it bends to exit behind the wheel and I put in another piece of straight pipe so I now have a rear exiting exhaust. I clamped it all together and it seems like it will hold tite and I dont see any leaks in it. The only thing I welded on was the tip. I think clamping it will hold up just fine for you.

cant see an exhaust leak usualy. With someone in the truck reving the engine reach your hand around the joint just barely not touching the pipe. If you feel wind you have a leak. Welding is always prefered in a system as long as you except that next time you need an exhaust job it will cost more.

yea well i will probably eventually weld my system its just that right now im thinkin of switchin my 50 series with a 40 series cause if i got a 40 it would take 10 min to replace the 50 ya know so if and when that happens ill probably weld it
