I finally have all my parts for installing my overhead console. I do have a question on the roof panel. When I mate the console to the roof, I see a small gap at the aft end of the console. I was wonder if the Explorers that have preinstalled consoles have a slight hump in the head liner (like the doom light assy) so it fills the gap, or is it flush with the rest of the headliner. I cut into my headliner and I have the screw holes and small slots for the console to fit in. Tonight I will install the bracket and wire harness. If someone could post a picture for me, that would help me out.

It should fit pretty well. When I installed mine I have a small (very small) gap between the headliner and the console. The bracket just screws right up there (be sure to use sheet metal screws) and the console snaps right in.

Mine isn't wired yet due to the fact I don't have all the wiring. I still need the small plug that fits in the back of the temperature sensor. I also need to buy some wire to I can splice into everything. It's just been too damn cold to do anything.

So hopefully this weekend it will warm up enough to be outside so I can wire it.

Just a side note, I went to a junkyard and took the temperature sensor off of a Navigator and I'm wondering if it will work with mine. They are slightly different. They are opposite. But I guess it doesn't hurt to try. :)

Quick-

What's the "small plug that fits in the back of the temperature sensor?" I installed one this summer and the temp always reads way low. I got the sensor from a junkyard too.

Well I got the plug from Ford for around $33. Part of the harness there is a plug that fits in the back of the sensor (the wire colors are blue/white and blue/black I think). Well this is how it receives the temperature from the outside. Right now I have the sensor, but no way to read the temp because of that part of the harness.

My plan is to wire it up now and worry about that later. I'll just run the wires to the spot so they will be ready when the times comes to install it.

Here is a pic from RangerPowerSports of what it should look like..

See, what I need is the part with the two wires coming out. :)

So I take it the temp Sensor does not have the wires hanging from the end of it like on the picture. I need the harness for it or I can make up my own connection. By the way, they have a overhead console for sale on Ebay if anybody needs one.
