Right now I have 265/75R16's on my 3rd gen. They don't rub at all and I have no lift installed. Do you think that I can get away with 285/75R16's? They are only 1.2" bigger so that is only .6" closer to the body. Thoughts?

you will need spacers, or from what i have heard will rub alot. just because they are only .6 in taller doesnt mean much, the real problem is the increased width. jutgin had the 285's with a 2 in lift and still went back down to th 265's

265s are heaps wide enough, and don't result in any rubbing (though I am running 1" spacers, so they may have something to do with it).

You will rub 285's with no lift...

will they rub a lot with just the 3 inch spacers you're selling????

Yes,
I was running a 3" coil lift, and wider offset rims, and it still rubbed too much.
That's why I did my body lift as well.
265's are the most I would recommend without 6 inches of lift.
Granted my tires are quite an aggressive tread, but still, it's all I have to base my opinion on... and mine rubbed way to much with just 3" of lift.

Ben.

Just to agree with everybody here, don't do the 285's without the Bodylift. I went back to 265's because the rubbing is annoying. Didnt hurt anything, you can do it, but it is ANNOYING.
I still have the 285's in the garage though so when I get around to the BL I'll throw them back on!

that sucks cuz the 265's just arent as mean looking as 285's! oh well

Just to let you know though..., jutgin was lucky he didn't hurt anything.
Myself, with only 3" coils came damn close to breaking something.... I actually popped a fender flare off after hitting a mid sized rock on a back woods trail.
It did pop right back on... but still. Do you really wanna risk wreaking a fender?
Just get some nice aggressive 265's they'll still look good.
Or lift it higher if you're hell bent on 285's.

Just my opinion, take it as you will.

Cheers
Ben
