Hey guys,

I know my car was in a slight accident prior to me getting it. I did my research though and looked over the car and it was in great shape when I got it. still only has 41k miles on it. In any case, there is a big "19" on the rear differential, and I'm wondering if maybe it was swapped out. There's a tag attached to the differential and I figured I would try to decode that. I know the door says it's an unlimited slip 3.73:1... but I'd like to know if maybe it already has a LIMITED slip diff on it if maybe it was swapped out.

Thanks!

What does the tag say on the differential?

PS: careful how you word your titles LOL

Hah, I'm not sure. I'll check it out tomorrow some time and write it down. It looked like a series of codes. I know with GM vehicles, it usually says something like "requires Limited Slip fluid" or something.

Thanks!

unlimited slip hahaha. Anyway..just get the # off the tag. It'll be easy to decipher.

Yeah very intresting title you have there!!!

Unlimited slip in the rear end! LOL

Hahah... yeah, wish I could claim that one myself... but I read it somewhere else on another forum.

I forgot to write down the code on my differential cover. I did however swap out my shocks with some Monroe Air Shocks. VERY happy with the ride. It eliminated the sag from the leaf springs, and it gives a much softer (but stiffer) ride.

The only thing I wonder about is... since the shocks are connected through a tube, does that mean that if one side compresses, it delivers additional pressure to the side that's not? Thereby not giving a stable cornering ride? Seems that would be an issue.
