This is my first post guys, so bare with me if this has been covered, many times before.

I'm trying to lower my 1993 Explorer XLT 2WD 4.0L 2inches but I want to make sure I do it right, and I want to make sure it's a good decision.

First I hear that lowering the X is a good idea because you get a good lower center of gravity, which makes it harder to flip. But then I hear the ride quality is bad. I mean the 93 ride quality wasn't the greatest to begin with, mainly because the car was too high and it tends to rock back and forth during quicker turns, or while hitting pot holes.

I know they sell the Eibach kit, and so far thats the only one I've heard of for 95 and below 'X's. But that kit does not bring the X-Spec shocks. So here is what I wanted to do.

I wanted to get the Eibach kit to lower the car and then put KYB MonoMax shocks all around. Would that work out?

Lemme know what you guys would recommend, I just want to look at all the options before making a decision. Thanks

just get Eibach 2" springs for the front, and 2" blocks for the rear. KYB makes a good shock, you'll like them on a street truck. make sure you have it aligned after it is all done.

Thanks

Thanks! Do you know if it messes up the ride stability?

it will ride a little firmer, and handle alot better.

BTW- Zakk Wylde rules!!!! i jammed some 1919 on the way home from work this morning. ;)

ROCK!!!

Zakk Wylde Kicks ass!! I'm doing a bunch of modifications to my 93' XLT I have already started, first with the audio, I'm running my Clarion Head Unit (50Watts X 4 channels). Pioneer's Brand New 4-Way 6X8 speakers for the doors (240 Watts A piece), and two 6X9 Blaupunkt Speakers in the back. Great sound right now, but still more to come, I need to run 2 Amps, one for the speakers alone and then 1 for the bass Subs which will be the new Pioneer 12" Subs, for a nice tight bass drop. That should do well for the audio.

Then the neon work, which will consist of the car undercarraige, then I'm adding neons under the back passenger seats, as well as under the dash to light up the floor nicely. I have already added the Street Glow Pedals, and the Street Glow exhaust tip, from JC Whitney. I custom did the exhaust, to come back from the car, not to poke out the side. Looks good. I'm hoping to get the fog lights today which with look will be installed tonight.

Then the tint work, I'm going to tint it all dark, as dark as I can go with out the harassment.

Then the paint, I'm going to go with Onyx black, with a high gloss finish, then just add the decals. I'm planning on putting a logo in the back window with the phrase "Stronger Than Death" with a Grim Reaper under it. Then just add the decals for my equiptment, Clarion Pioneer, Street Glow, ect ect...

Then its just a matter of ordering the rest such as the grill and whatnots. Still quite a bit to go, but not overly too much. I'll post pics once I can get a few good shots.

Thanks for the help guys, I think all this stuff and then with the lowering the car will look great. Not to mention Zakk Wylde will sound excellent through a nice tight system like that.

how much would it be to lower the 91-94's 2 inches with the Eibach kit? I have a 93 and i would like to lower it a inch or 2.
