My setup so far is a Pioneer DEH 330 HU, Pioneer 6x8 in all stock location and a MTX 4250D and 2 RF3410's in a sealed box for the bass.

I'm planning on getting either a Rockford Fosgate 300x or 500x and component speakers (probalby RF).

I find that volume 10 (it goes up to 40) on my HU is about as loud as I like to go. So here is the first question; On a 4 channel amp would I even notice any difference between a 30watts x 4 or a 50watts x4 since I'm not using much of the power of my HU.

Next question is would I notice, as the driver, the difference between a 4 channel amp or using a 2 channel amp and just running the back off the HU.

Since I will most likely be ordering the amp and speakers online what do I need to look for, certain spec that are key?

Thanks

cartman i had the same excat problem before i went and got a 4-channel for my doors, w/out bypassing the factory amp, your volume will only go so loud (in my case it was 10-12 also) but after the 4-channel amp install i can now turn it up right around 46 before i start to lose hearing (LOL) it goes to 50. now as for your other questions, just make sure your amp won't blow your speakers but get a descent amount of power output......hope any part of this helps...

Hmm.. I was wondering about this before..

Did you notice any difference in SQ when you put the amp in? More flexibility over how the sound comes out? Better speaker response? etc etc.

My HU puts out good clean sound right now, but only being able to go up to vol 15 (before serious distortion) doesn't allow for much fine tuning. It's either really soft, or really loud. Not much in the middle.

Is it something you'd recommend to someone who doesn't have that setup? If it makes a big difference, I think my next paycheck might have a new home.

yes, it would be in your best interest to get a 4-channel amp to power your high's if you're looking for better SQ and more fine tuning capabilities.
