I know that there are tons of posts out there on lifting a 1st gen explorer, but i wanted a little more information. I have a 92 ex and want to get a cheap 3 inches or so. I also want something that will be easy to do and that will not alter the structural integrity of the vehicle. I have heard TT and shackles are quick and easy, but i dont entirely understand what that is. I know it is a torsion twist, but does this mean that by tightening two bolts i can raise the front end? What kind of ware and tear does this cause to the front end? What shackles can be used to raise the back and where can i get them? thanks in advanced for the help.

on a 1992 X, which is a first GEN it's a Twin Traction Beam suspension........... their no Torsion Bars :( no TT for 1991 - 1994 X's. Throw a body lift for some cheap lift.......... anything messing with the suspension height and you'll also need an alignment when finished (up's the price).

okay. so then just buy a body lift online. what brand is a good buy?

performance accessories PA series body lifts are the one made for explorers , available from Summit racing,
