I have HID projectors in my housings in my 96 explorer. I have a 8000k kit, my question is when i first turn them on they are very bright and light up everything. Within 45-60 seconds they flicker and the light output lessens quite a bit. Is this the normal warm up like full tube florescent lights do? Or is something wrong with my balasts/wiring?

I think it has to do with warming the lights up faster. Mine are extremely bright as they are switched on, but then dim until they are warmed up. They are bright, but not as bright as when first switched on. Not sure if that helps at all.

i personally retrofitted some projectors into my 3rd gen explorer....the ballast at start up draws a lot of power but after a min the light output lessens a little..if the bulb flickers or gets really dim you should check your wiring...the thread i read stated that when you wire up your ballast...you have to use a harness that has a relay with a postive, negative wires to connect to the battery....most people just use the "plug and play" kits which state that you just hook up the ballast to your stock bulb harnesss and you'll be ok...thats fine most people dont have problems but the way i suggest getting a harness...if you want to read up more hidplanet.com/forums ....great site if you need hid help and also if you're interested in retrofitting your own headlights
