Have the cables, and battery terminals, been cleaned? Don't ever cut the factory ends off, any bolt-on repair terminal is worse than the original(temporary). The OEM steel clamp type battery terminals are wonderful, keep them and save them. The old lead type do wear out with age, replace those with whole cables.

I paid about $20 or less for a custom cable for my 99 Explorer, at a local Royal Brass and Hose. Find a hydraulics store that sells all of that nice odd stuff. Good luck,

<works at autozone

and knows what youre talking about. parts stores have very little training. they spend 3 hours telling you how not to sexually harass people and 3 hours telling you to sell wittdjr (the stuff like light bulb grease, hand soap, spark plug antiseize etc...) and then they throw you in a store. its pathetic really. one guy i work with used to own a shop and works here to have something to do and the rest of them dont really know a lot. they know about parts, but not the actual "working on cars" part.

they were amazed that i took my alternator off in the parking lot (and i told em it was a piece of cake alternator and most arent that easy) haha. its just rediculous. ive learned to only go to parts stores for parts, not advice.

i'm glad you got it fixed...did you sell it today???

ezeedee, you missed a wild, i mean you would of have, well, just take a look at the return from cleghorn thread...:D

i was asking 4k but i would not be able to take less than 3500

ill try and take a pics of how bad the connectors were on my cable. its rather suprising it lasted as long as it did.
