Quick question on tow package!

alright so i have a 1999 4x4 4door explorer and im looking to get shackels for the back. i know how they work and all, but when i looked at where mine would go today, it looked like i had some sort of shackle back there. i was wondering about it having the tow package, does it already have them? and if so could i use lifting blocks to get a few more inches?

sorry if this has already been asked, i searched around and didnt have any luck.

you will have a factory wimpy pressed metal shackle there as that is how they connect to the frame,, but it is not as long from bolt center to bolt center as the Warrior Shackle,, and definately not as strong,
that is why people put on the Warrior Shackles, , they are longer giving the back a bit of a lift , 1.5 - 2 inches,, and leveling or lifting the back a bit,,,

How do i know if i have the towing package. I know obviously if there is a hitch it can tow. but how do i know from the factory? It was rear ended before i got it and there was/is no hitch, but all the connectors are there. Its a 97 (build date 8/96) with 3.73 LS diffy. AWD.

Warrior Shackles will do the trick for a small lift.

If you have the trailer wiring then you should have the tow package. It also included a trans cooler. There were no factory hitches with the towing package for some reason. The warrior shackles will add some lift to the rear.
