Quick Question: What generation am I?

I tried searching on this so I wouldn't have to post a quick question like this but over 1400 results came so it didn't help.

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport? Am I a second generation? Thanks.

Even though my 2001 looks totally different than the 2000? I think it looks closer to the 2002. Whats the difference between the 2nd and 3rd generation then?

1991-94 Gen 1
95-2001 Four doors Gen 2
2001-2003 2 doors Gen 2.5
2002-2005+ Gen 3

They're still just a 2nd gen underneath an updated skin

The 2001 Sport and beyond were still pretty much the 2nd Generation with a lot of cosmetic upgrades from 2000. The Sport is no longer made.

The 3rd Generation started with the 4 door in '02 and is still kickin'.
