- 93 4 dr 4x4 manual XL.
Can`t find anything specific but something is bugging me about my front axle.
If I`m in 4x4 (we`ll say lo) and I`m doing some inching around on the trail to either turn around or something, I get a noise when I push the clutch in.
It feels like something is loose, because when the driveline is disengaged from pushing the clutch, I get this "rattle" that is like the driveshaft is spinning back and forth a couple times before it stops.
I`LL try to be more clear so there is no confusion!
Lets say, for example, you grabbed your driveshaft and tried to make it spin by hand. You know how you can move it slightly one way and another until it stops? That`s the "play" or "backlash" in your axle, right?
Now, picture that play in the front driveshaft.
When I want to stop quick, I push in the clutch, which makes that bloody front driveshaft rattle back and forth a couple times. It doesn`t sound very good, and only sounds like it comes from the front.
This doesn`t seem right. Is this way too much play? Is it my transfer case? Is there something I can do?
Thanks guys! Heelp!
