Quiet start mode

Hi wondering if anyone knows how to turn off the quiet start option for remote start on a 2017 Limited. Or any other answer as to why my climate settings dont stay set. Blower speed resumes as reduced. I assume its a setting that i dont see. My prior explorers had a on off for quiet start which i cant locate. Thanks in advance

Here is what the 2017 Owner's Manual says but I didn't have any luck finding anything on it.

You can switch it on or off in the
information display. See General
Information (page 99).

Yes i saw that but cant locate it. Went to dealer and no one even knows what quiet mode is. Im not crazy all of my newer explorers have had it. Horn doesnt beep when it doesnt start. I have to drop it there next week so they can check it. Not a good experience so far. As Im pretty confident that is the problem . idle is low no horn blower speed reduced. Thanks for the response.

Interesting, I will look for this. If it was a setting that was controllable by the IPC on past model years then the setting is in the as-built data on the BCM or HVAC module. If I can find this for 16-17MY(if they didn't remove it) then we can disable it with FORScan.

I appreciate any feedback. As it seems pointless to have a remote start when defrost, blower speed, seats, steering wheel don't work. Ive tried auto and previous setting feature in climate. It works fine with regular start. All my previous models had a quiet start mode. That is the behavior but there is no access to it. The techs at the dealer just shrug and say they have no idea. There must be a way to disable it. Its bad enough in the heat but its a necessity in the winter. The trickle of air wont heat the car or defrost it. I master reset the sync 3. It has all the current updates as well. one tech said it doesn't have quiet mode but yet it behaves that way.

I guess I was lucky. Mine wasn't 'locked' into the Quiet Start mode when I got it. There has to be something we're missing. But what?

FYI: My Explorer has two Remote Start settings Auto (which heats/cools interior and seats) or Last Used Settings which turns on whatever HVAC settings you had before.

720-02-02 00 disabled fd enabled (16-17MY default for climate control w HSW) But don't know if that just turns remote start on and off.

That just enables or disables remote start.

In checking for "Quiet Start" in previous Owner Manuals, it seems the term disappeared after the 2013 Manual and it also disappeared from the Remote Start settings. The term then reappeared in the 2016 -17 Manuals but not in the Remote Start settings.

my manual quotes it saying disable quiet start to use climate features ''look in general information...yet there is none..its like a circle..and if my car doesn't start then no horn..also no remote window access,,sure seems like a quiet start option

Livnitup on the F-150 forum has already mapped the entire 15-17MY F-150 BCM which is almost identical to the 16-17MY Explorer so I'm afraid that the setting may have been removed.

If that is the case I wonder why the 2016 & 17 Manuals make reference to it after it was removed from the 2014 & 15 Manuals, but don't have it in the settings? So it appears at this time that the 2017 Limited is in Quiet Start mode while my 2017 Platinum is not.

so setting is removed but yet my car is stuck that way?Almost 50k for a car that cant be defrosted heated or cooled with a remote start. That's more than a glitch.

we tried another on the lot as I patiently explained to the tech that no it wasn't normal. he finally had to agree. its not my first explorer. and the behaviors all seem to point to that mode. its in low energy mode when remote started. Yet no option to change it.

I would say that in your case you have a faulty OEM remote start and the module where that resides (BCM?) should be replaced under warranty.

Try to have your dealer update your HVAC module or reset it. The quiet start and all remote start settings for HVAC reside in that module not in the BCM as I thought before.

I am still trying to find the exact location of the setting in the HVAC module but I don't have much time to search today and its over 90 degrees outside here in CA!
