peterk9: You are right, it is very odd that the Explorer manuals reference quiet mode and says you can disable or enable it from the IPC but the settings are missing....

UPDATE: Block 2 is the VIN, thanks jmr061!

Thanks jmr061, you are right. block 2 is the VIN. I've updated the above post

So it looks like neither the BCM or HVAC module contain settings for a quiet mode. It is looking more like the manual was misprinted.

HVAC Block 1 contains the following settings:
Police Option (rear lockout)
APIM Type (for controlling HVAC)
Compressor Type (Fixed)
Engine Type
Front Heated Seats Upper and Lower Temp Limit
Rear Aux Control (Auto or Manual)

HVAC Block 2 is the VIN

[/QUOTE]That wouldn't be the first time info that was no longer relevant was carried over. So now what does Lyssacat do seeing as her Limited does appear to be stuck in "Quiet Start" mode if it appears that there are no modules that contain the program?

Peter

I still think an HVAC calibration update would be the best option for Lyssacat. The dealer can do this with Ford IDS. This will also update the as-built data if needed. Since there isn't a quiet mode I suspect there is another issue or setting. The remote start setting in the IPC should also be verified that it is set to "Auto"

I just got a new 2017 Explorer XLT and the remote start does not cool the car and the air is only tickling out of the vents! Im disappointed, whats the point of having remote start.

A friend of mine has a 2016 Edge platinum and when she remote starts her car the fans are blowing hard and the car is cooled.

I asked my dealer about it but it sounds like this is something they have no clue about.

I read the post but I didn't see any solutions, anyone else have updates on this?

Sounds like something is wrong somewhere...I can remote start for ~5 minutes and have it cooled down when it is 110+ degrees outside.

The cooled seats are on all 3 bars and the fan is blowing pretty hard.

Are you using "Last used settings" or whatever to control it or is it set to the other one (Automatic?)?

You can find this option in the left settings screen.

Welcome to the Forum Phil.
You profile shows you have a 2018 XLT. ;)
Sound like you also may be 'stuck' in what was called "Quiet Start". As this thread has mentioned, even though the term is in the 2016/17 Manual, there is no longer a user setting for this.
This just prompted me to try mine which I hadn't done yet this Summer and it works as designed.

Peter

Mine is also in 'quiet start' with no way to change it. It will cool down but the fan runs substantially faster after the car is taken out of remote start mode. The latest HVAC calibration did automatically activate seat cooling during remote start though.

So It sounds like I will need to take it into the dealer to have them turn off "quiet mode"

From what I gather from PlatinumOwner's posts, there is no way to turn it off as there is no setting for it. If there was, I'm sure he would have done so already.

Yes, if there is a setting... it hasn't been found yet and the dealers aren't aware of it. I am trying some more values today in FORScan and will let you know if I find it.

Perhaps you might have to compare your "As Built Data" with a member who has a 'working' (non quiet start) system and who can supply their data. Would that perhaps provide some insight? I would think that something has to be different.

Yes, this would be helpful, I believe it is in the HVAC module in 733-07-01

I have already figured out these remote start values

32xx xxxx Auto, seats wheel on
30xx xxxx Auto, seats wheel off
F6xx xxxx Last settings, seats and wheel on
F4xx xxxx Last settings, seats and wheel off

I believe those first two values also contain settings for quiet start so I will start experimenting with new values.

some possibilities for 733-07-01 from UCDS software, these values may differ in 2016-2017

3xxx xxxx rear and front defrost? on
0xxx xxxx rear and front defrost? off
xAxx xxxx quiet start on
x2xx xxxx quiet start off
F6xx xxxx seats and wheel auto, quiet start off
FExx xxxx seats and wheel auto, quiet start on

I don't have time to test these right now but the values indicate that quiet start is actually off.. maybe the setting is now enforced in the calibration.

733-07-01 xxxx xx** - this appears to be temperature settings cold to warm- 00,08,10,18, 20, 28, 30, 38, 48, etc

EDIT: Nevermind, this is the my temp setting. Not related to remote start

733-07-01 values from any model Explorer's as well as the IPC settings would helpful. These values can't be downloaded from the Motorcraft service site.
