rack and pinion question

my rack and pinion on my 02 explorer is going bad.

my question is should i not drive the vehicle until that is fixed or can i get around for a few days until i can get it in the shop?

I don't want to drive it if there's potential for me to lose complete control of the steering so that's why i ask.

the steering is sometimes hard to turn to the right. Not all the time though.

what makes you think the problem is the rack, It could be power steerig pump, maybe greasing the bal joints or tie rods might fix sticking, or alligment could cause a sticking return of the wheel, either way sounds dangerous.

When i was researching the problem i came across a thread where someone was having the same problem with the exact same symptoms and it was the rack and pinion.
