Currently reading the Haynes manual on this job, which suggests the removal of the fan in the process. I've seen a few videos skip this step. So my question is, can I still follow the manual while also skipping this step? Or is there something else I have to do?

Thanks!

I value the skin on my hands enough to take the fan off. It's just one hard knock on the end of a Crescent wrench.

I removed the fan of my explorer 2002 based on the manual it was easy to remove it but needs a jerk. The radiator. is easier to remove without the fan since you need the wiggle space. All you need to do is rent a fan remover from Autozone. I remember i had to buy a fan remover wrench from auto zone and another tool to hold the fan in place.
