Just recently picked up an 05 XLT, within the first couple days of owning it i had to replace the battery. So i let autozone switch it out to save the core and why not right? Started it up to go on my way... no sound from the radio. All the functions work on the radio, just no sound, not even static. My first thought was maybe a blown fuse somewhere, went over every fuse in the vehicle, all are good. Started dong some google searching which led me to this forum. Hoping you guys can help me out here.
I thought about just replacing the radio itself since the cd player didnt work and the volume button seem to have a mind of its own. But i'm afraid if i replace it i'll just end up in the same spot, no tunes!

TIA

Edit: Welcome to the forum!

One thing that happens to these cars when the batteries start going out, is the radio will 'pop' off-on.

As you were already having issues with the volume acting up and the CD player not working, I'd suggest replacing it.

Stereos at my local wrecking yard are $25. You could go get another OE unit to see what happens. Or just go aftermarket.

But 'sounds' like you were having issues before the battery went out. Could just be a coincidence in the timing of the failure.
