I have taken my 21 limited to a car wash twice now. Both times I have gone through the settings on the head unit and set the auto sensing wipers to off. Both times when the soap hits the windshield the wipers swipe the water away. This is nerve wracking because it is not a touch-less car wash. Am I missing something? Why would they not turn off ?

I like this car a lot more than my 18 XLT, but Ford missed the mark on a lot of things.

You have to turn the wiper stalk all the way down to turn off automatic setting. I never had to go into menu settings to turn that feature off and I've had a car with rain-sensing for many years. After the carwash, just put the stalk back in the first position.

I find these "rain-sensing wipers" aren't perfect. I have had them do a wipe on a clear sunny day and also several times when I drive into my garage.
They did this on my 2011 Limited, 2014 MKT, 2017 Platinum and now on my Aviator. I have, however, never turned them OFF. It has got to the point that when it happens, I just say "Thank you". ;)

Lately about once a day it does one wipe on a dry sunny day but we have had cicadas all over and their guts splattered like an alien massacre! LOL But that's coming to an end and so is the tree sap all over. I would never go back to not having this feature along with auto headlamps and highbeams. Love those features! After having them for over 10 years you get so lazy when you drive a car without these things.

Haven't seen any cicadas around here.
