I'm fairly new to the the EF, and modding my Ex. I'm looking into getting a complete set of Rancho RS5000's. And would like to hear some feed back from the knowledgeable folk here on EF.

I'm thinking about getting them too... but im not sure

I've had them for two years on my '99 XLT daily driver, and I like them. Smooth ride. I put Bilstein on my Ranger, though. Also very nice.

I put some on my explorer back in spring love them. My stockers were shot but these shocks really helped. Even got rid of my squirrely back end. Plus they had a promotion running when i bought them so I got a $50 debit card. I couldn't pass on a deal like that.

I've had the RS5229 on the front, and RS5185 on the rear for about 3 years now.

First of all, there was nothing special about them. Back then, they were $39.04 each, so my main motivation was the price. The car was 10 years old, and the OEM shocks were just worn. These turned out to be excellent replacements for the OEM. Decent ride. They have held up. No complaints what-so-ever.

Now you have to consider if you want a replacement set that is OEM quality, or if you're looking for something that is better. While these shocks aren't going to have you jumping up & down, and telling all your friends how great they are; you certainly aren't going to have any complaints either. They are probably the best value for your dollar.

Your lowest cost will probably be Monroe. But then again, Monroe may not give you the smoothest ride.

Check Shock Warehouse for the models available for your model year. Then after you decide which shocks you want, Google the part number for the best price.
