Will the fact that these are adjustable make a difference in ride quality with a torsion lift? I know they will make a little bit of a difference at least, but is it signficant and worth the extra money over say, the RS5000s?

Mainly need opinions from people that have them.

Rs5000's on my 96 were perfect, street driven truck.
The 9000's are awesome for 4x4ing (soft) and towing (firm)
However most of the time you set them where you want them and they dont get touched.

Street driven = you dont need adjustable and the RS5000 is an excellent self adjusting shock.

I completely disagree. I adjust mine ( 9000x ) differently for different loads and a different adjustment for towing a tandom trailer. I love the adjustability.

Thats why I said they are awesome, towing = firm :)
I like both shocks, I adjust my 9000's all the time, but if he is saying are they worth the extra $$$ I am saying only if you want to adjust them for your use, otherwise the 5000's are great :)

He said that 9000s are good for towing.

I'm more concerned with on road driving and improving the ride of a torsion twist. For instance, will a soft setting on the 9000s soften the ride enough to get it closer to a stock ride, or is this beyond the realm of a shock alone?

shock only controls the spring rebound.
the torsion bars maxed out = no more stock like ride up front.

Mine do; I adjust for load often.

Copy that :)
I think his question is answered! hahahaha

If you go 5000s you will never know how cool it is to have adjustables :)
Does that justify the extra $$$? it does for me!
I definatley use them, but chose to go with 5000's on my 96 daily driver. :)

Hartman have you thought about the Rancho RSX?

From my point of view the 5000's were far too soft for the IFS no matter what you were doing. With the 9000X's I was running at 8 or 9 on the street and 5 offroad. At those settings they were a very decent, controlled ride with 35's.

I love the adjustability. I have it firmer in the front (for less dive in the corners) and softer in the back (for less "bucking" over bumps)

LoL, I run mine on the softest setting fr/r. I got tired of getting beat up on the crappy roads in DT Charleston, SC. I notice alot more body sway, but hey it sure rides smooth :)

Hartman, i'd say go with the 9000x's. This way, you make them the way you want them and you're not buying shocks subject to someone else's opinions on "ride quality"

Dad runs 9000x's on his stock mounty off of my recommendation and loves em
