..Well my fan clutch just reminded me it needs replacing and I found the Derale electric fan a bit pricey at about $500..:(..I did see one listed at $170 but I would assume the Flex a lite $225 would be just as good (1500-1900 cfm)at up to 2000cfm..:dunno:

..I did find the 1995 2.3L requires 1200-1600 CFM...

..I think the Taurus fan is rated up to 4000cfm and I would try to find one but they are oober rare as they are pulled for buggies out here all the time..

..Is there something out there (New in a box) comparable at a lower price?

..Say $100-$200 range?

I say just scour the yard and see what fits. I'm pretty sure most fans from a 4-door sedan with an average sized engine will probably meet that CFM requirement.

HHR fan?

..I appreciate the links and keep them coming as I am reading up on all of them..:biggthump

..I was reading about a Volvo fan install on a 4.0 over on TRS when IZ posted the pirate link...

..If we didn't have rain all this week, rain forecast thru this weekend too, I would venture to the local jy's but swimming thru a muck to score an e-fan right now doesn't seem as appealing as shopping online..:D

....I could order a used one on fleebay..:dunno:

..I do know I want a 2-speed fan (hi/low) with about 1500cfm (low) and about 2100 or more (High) for the desert temps and slow crawling speeds...This will also have an on/off switch for water crossings and adjustable temp setting..

..:shifty_ey..You hear me Brian1 ?..:p:

..When I click on your link it gives me all of their E-fans for all vehicles..:(

..Do you have a brand/model number from their site with a price so I can search it there?

...Thanks for re-posting the info and I'm looking into it..:biggthump

..I'm spending my Friday and Saturday nights reviewing E-fan's and switches..

Thats along the lines of what I do most evenings! lol :chug:

I have never had a problem with mine. I have an indicater light on my ex that shows me that the fan only kicks on now and then when im in slow moving situations like drive throughs or red lights. Its a world of difference!

I've heard that the easiest way to swap in an E-fan is get one from the junkyard from a late model Ranger 4 banger... it'll supposedly bolt right in.

...IIRC the newer Rangers run both an electric fan and a clutch fan and the e=fan only runs with the clutch fan when they a/c is on (stock set up)..

..I'm thinking I'm going to need a little more cfm than what they put out for slow crawl in Desert heat..

The fan that I linked is like a mid level fan - reccomended for the Explorers with the 4.0. If you search advance they have bigger fans than that. Summit has some nice fans too. It depends on how much you wanna spend.

..I'm cheap so the most bang for the buck...

..I've been doing a ton of reading and searching and thanks to everyone sending me links and info I feel like I'm in the middle of a cram session....

Hey if ya wanna save some $$, check contours, taurus, sables, villagers, etc at places like pull-a-part... of course get a measurement to see what kinda space ya have... I found a contour to "contribute" to my explorer VERYgood fit with little mod....using oe "clips" at bottom of radiator and all. "Slots" in top of radiator worked perfect to drill snall holes thru top of fan shroud and bolt in place. $13.50 +/- @ pull-a-part

Ted check out the "the fan man" Crazy good prices, and I think he's right bye your house too (7582 Industrial Way, Stanton, CA 90680 off Western bellow Katella). They have been specializing in the hot rod world for awhile, and just getting into the 4x4 scene.

I'm almost positive it's a straight E-fan, and if you're just crawling along and not working the engine then it wouldn't be producing all that much heat and even with your AC on the E-fan should be able to easily keep up with it.

...I'm pretty set on a two speed e-fan with some options on the switching and with normal summertime temps in the mid 90's low 100's in town (20 miles from beach), and I want as much fan as I can get when I head to the desert 110-120's..;)
