ranger 8.8 vs explorer 8.8

are the axle housings the same diamter? are the ubolts interchangable?

the axle tubes are the same diameter and you can use the u-bolts. if youre going to be using a ranger axle in your explorer you'll have to move the spring perches, theyre set wider on a ranger. also the ranger axles arent as strong as explorer axles. theyre 28 spline while explorer axles are 31 spline.

I have a 31 spline 8.8 out of a 2002 FX4 ranger. Yes I said 31 spline for the last time.
