i was at the yard the other day and there was an older 80s lifted ranger there. lift coils, braided brake lines, and dual steering stabilizers up front i was going to take but i didnt think they would on my 92 ex

the older rangers have D30 not D35 TTB. it is a bit more narrow than the X. not to sure if this would have anything to do with the suspension

The older Rangers had a D28 in the front and 7.5's in the back. The radius arms have to be turned over (the 35 has a bigger spring perch bolt on top than the 28's did). I personally wouldn't use a Ranger lift (especially an earlier Ranger)as I'm not sure if the springs would be enough(ie the EX is heavier). Just my 2cents

that makes sense, i didnt even think about the weight difference. i wont waste my time with it then.

you might be interested in the rear lift however..i am not complteley certian..but i do kno if the diff is not the d35 ttb then the stabilizer wont work . as for the coils.. i just wouldnt bother because of the weight and all it most likely wont be worth your time.. but lik ei mentioned befor, the back..if it is a AAL type lift obviously that would work for you.. those rangers MAY be SOA so then the blocks if they used em would not work.... i dont see why u wouldnt be interested in the brake lines, and perhap the ext. iy may have with it..

p.s. take the lift off anyway and sell that here to buy some parts for your xploder : )

Very few aftermarket TTB coils were ever weight-specific, I wouldn't worry about that (and even if it did sit lower, you could always add a couple washers or a spacer under the spring seat to raise it a bit).

One thing that's different on the older Ranger vs. an Ex is the swaybar mounting.
Ranger's had it between the radius arms until '89 or so, the Explorers are all front mounted.
You would need to get longer end links for your swaybar after lifting it (that is if you choose to run the swaybars).

Like 4x4junkie was saying the whole front lift will work except for the sway bar end links and the rear lift if they used blocks. And furthermore most lift kits say they fit 83-97 ford rangers/91-94 ford explorers but explorers use either arched springs or a SOA conversion to lift the rear

no they wont work if he used blocks to lift the ranger.. as i said..rangers are SOA as opposed to explorers being sprung underaxle.. these "lift'" blocks will turn in to lowering blocks.. you'll hav to use a nother method..

howeevr if your going cheap there are a lot of option in the rear of the ex
-if you or someoine you kno is decent at fabbing/welding..SOA conversion is extremely cost effective and cheap
- add a leafs very cheap and easy
-or extended shackles..relatively cheap and very easy..but if you got that fab guy, its really easy to just make shackles if you get a hold ofsome steel..

i decided im just going to get the f150 coil pockets for the front since i get a discount through my local ford dealer. although if they will work i might go take the longer brake lines since they were braided. i have new frt coils on my ex because one was bent like a smiley face when i bought it. the local yards i go to dont have newer stuff most of the time so ill probably get the warrior shackles i can get them cheaper through work, and possibly an add a leaf if i need more lift in the rear. if anyone wants the lift ill go pull the whole thing but i have no idea how much its gonna cost plus my time and shipping since im sure it wont be cheap. oh and i live in bethlehem pa and the ranger is at the harrys u pull it in allentown
