Does anyone know if an aftermarket leaf setup that is currently in a 91 Ranger would fit into a 93 explorer xlt ?

I beieve I am experiencing axle wrap in my 93 expl. I have looked around for remedies fr this and it seems that the only real solution is beefing up the rear suspension(add a leaf, better shocks, and rear torsion bars). I am not impressed with the pricing of this stuff right now(I'm kinda broke). I was at a wrecking yard today and found a 91 Ranger with a nice fairly recent aftermarket leaf setup. It was a Ford yard and the guy said to check it ut - they should, might, maybe fit.

Any one know ?

Rick,
I'm not sure if they'll swap or not but I do know that Ranger leaves are off-set from the frame and Explorers are not. One way to determine if they might work is measure each main leaf from 'eye' to 'eye' and then comapre measurements. You may also be able to employ my F150 leaf swap (see the 'sticky' at the top of this forum) to beef up your springs.
Dave.

I know for sure Explorer leaves are longer than Ranger's...Ranger leaf's are 3"wide and I think (measure yours) Explorer leaf's are 2.5" wide. If you go with an add-a-leaf, it will help out the axle wrap but then you'll have a stiffer ride so it's a trade off.

when i got my deavers (aftermarket leaves), they accidentally gave me a ranger leaf pack. they were waaaaay long. i threw on some 1" longer shackles with the 3-4" lift springs and it was sagged out like an old lady. we had to make shackles that were 4" longer than stock to achieve around 5" of lift. obviously something was not right. i went to deaver and showed them and it turned out that the leaves were wrong...so they shortened them up and now im sittin around 4" in the rear with the 1" shackles.

when the ranger leaves were on there, the shackles were pointed way back and the leaves were even hitting the trailer hitch over bumps. i would just go for some exploder leaves and make it easy on yerself :)
