Can anyone give me some info on the ranger leafs. How are they compared to our explorer leafs in arc? What about strength? Would the ranger pack hold my explorer up on the rear or are they to weak? Any info you can give me would be great, thanks!

Happy trails!!

Matt Adams has Ranger springs in the rear as the top most leaf. They are both bent. They are thinner and have the same arch as an Explorer. But since they are thinner you can bend em easier.

Really, well do you think the whole pack would be good enough for my explorer, or would i need to use an ad-a-leaf? Thanks for the help.

Happy trails!!

I just wanted to get this back up to the top some maybe some could tell me what they think about Ranger leafs holding the rear of my explorer, or would they be to weak. I can always put in another leaf, no big deal. Thanks for your help!

Happy trails!!

It's been awhile, but I'm interested also.

I would like to do a SOA to relocate springs and shock mounts , but would like to use flatter Ranger leafs so I don't get so much of a lift.

Well, what i've found out is our frame is different. I wasn't able to do it with out a huge amount of lift. The ranger frame is bowed in in the back, so the leafs actually mount up higher, then have a like un upside down shackle on the back. The explorer frame is wider in the rear and the leafs actually mount under the frame, so that's what i got out of my findings.

I believe they do mount differently, but are they the same length. I would think so, since ranger leafs are used for the Zimmerman mod. I think you can use the main ranger spring (with eyes) and add additional springs to adjust ride height.

If I understand correctly the Zimmerman mod uses the less stiiff ranger main spring and the rest to the X spring pack. This mod would allow the axle to drop down, but when compress, X springs support the weight. Sortof like the overload spring, it is never used unless carring a large load.
