Ranger Push button 4x

Howdy out there Fellow Ford Folk. I have a 98 Ranger manual 5 sp. 4x4 with the electronic shift. I'm having no responce from the 4H when I try to engage. I understand this is a common problem. It's happened a few other time and cured itself....Tempermental.... Any one have any suggestions?
