Rattle from alternator

Anyone know what would cause a rattle to come from the alternator when in gear at idle?? Loose bearings maybe?? Also, When is it a good time to change the timing chain and what does that typically cost?

Its most likely one of the bearings going bad. The same thing happened to the alternator in my X and I let it go for over 2 years before finally getting tired of listening to it and swapped it out.
As for the timing chain, don't worry about it, it is designed to last the life of the vehicle.
