Guys, question from the subject line. I'm out-of-warranty, so will be paying for the update myself and want to get as much out of my $100 as I can. When I bring the car in to be reflashed and the dealer connects to my ECM, does his computer tell him all the updates and TSB's that are out there and still not done for my X? Or do I have to print out TSB's and tell him the updates that I need? I'm asking because in reading some of the posts, it seems that some dealers don't see certain updates/TSB's that definitely exist.
I'm mostly concerned with the radiator/fan update, but don't want to miss out on any other fun updates.

Thanks

I just had the throttle body replaced at the dealer and they told me the pcm was reprogramed to the latest calibration 6U7A-12A650-KLD which covered alot of issues (didn't ask about the fan) So this leads me to believe that they hooked up the Explorer to their computer and it applied the latest firmware.

It doesn't direct him straight to any updates available. If your there for an update he will "go in" and see the update then install it. If your there for a windshield wiper inop he won't see it. If there are specific updates you want done you need to be sure to tell them you want these specific updates done. Often there are updates and "reflashes" that the avg. consumer does not know about.
The dangerous part of all this updating business is that if the tech starts to update say the PCM, (Powertrain Control Module) and his computer shats out or the wireless internet fails then your PCM becomes a very expensive paperweight. Depending upon the dealer and their integrity they might replace it for free due to dealer failure or they might charge you with some BS story about how it was on the verge of failure and programing pushed it over the edge.
The Bottom Line is this. If there's an update you want, you need to tell them to do it. Caveat Emptor.

Luckily, my dealer has all the PCM firmwares/updates on cd's so there's no chance of the internet failing. :)
