hi Guys,

I am Ready to re-gear my X-ST,
I will go for 4.56,
I have a friend, master mechanic who will do the job for me free of charge, so I just need the parts.
Now, I ask him what else do I need besides the Pinion, Ring and Gasket, he says all other stuff must be ok with such low mileage on my Trac (37k Miles).
But I don’t want surprises, so in your experience what else should be replaced and what should i keep?

Might as well do carrier bearings while you have it apart and end seals, too.

When I had my diffs done I had all the bearings and oil seals replaced as well. These things aren't very dear and the way I see it, while it's apart, make sure everything is 100% cause it's not the easiest thing to service later. Mine had about 90,000km on it when I changed the ratios. One thing the diff builder noticed was the axles were pitted from too much heat. He said that they may need to be changed in the not too distant future. This would depend on what the car has been through prior. One other thing you might want to do, put a descent LSD or locker in. Better to do it now then later (if you can afford it).
