Rear 1/4 panel removal

I just installed an in dash JVC mp3 player and four 6x8 4-way pioneers. I had a premeum sound system, so I have an amp in the rear.

The local Besy Buy doesn't have any amp bypass harnesses for a 98 Ford Explorer Sport. I don't have a huge "star" bit to remove the upper seatbelt holder thing. I already took out that pocket in the rear, but the wires are not long enought to pull out and solder. Does anyone know how I can bypass the amp without taking off the rear 1/4 panel?

If you have some descent size allen wrenches, one will work with the torx head (star) bolt. Not sure on how to do it without taking the panel out.

98 and newer do not have an external amp in the rear for the door speakers. the amp is built in to the headunit. if you had a 97 with premium sound, the amp would be in the rear.

I have a 98 and I do have an amp in the rear for the door speakers...I have seen it...I have touched it.

I had the two connectors in the dash.

And when my HU is on volume level 1 it is pretty loud.

The upper part of the seat belts need to be removed, along with the little screw in the coat hanger thingy. These ahve to be removed, along with the 3 or 4 screws along the bottom of the panel(theres one by the floor for the back passangers too). Trust me on this one, it has to be removed to get to the amp. Unless you have really small long arms and have x-ray vision

Thanks guys for your help!! I FINALLY got it removed.. boy was that a pane in the a$$!

I used an allen wrench with the handle part in a copper pipe for leverage...worked great.
